What if I told you that the simplest of settings can often make for the most personal sessions?

If you are struggling with choosing a location for your shoot, don’t overthink it! We don’t need to be in the middle of some fairy tale woods or in the bustling downtown area to have the perfect backdrop for our session (although I love those locations too!). In fact, if you’re feeling shy, there’s no better place than your own home for our session!

There are plenty of perks to having the entire shoot done at home. For one, we don’t have to work around the weather if it’s not cooperating. Rain? No problem! An in-home session is also a great way to show off your vibe and personality. Your home is unique to you and is at the center of your story.

Using your home for our photo studio can work for any type of session. If we are shooting indoors at your space, here are some tips to consider before our session.

Pick your rooms
You’ll want to choose rooms with the best natural light. Large windows and white walls are a plus.

Give your space a good cleaning
Even if we decide on one room, creativity might spark during the shoot. I would suggest giving every room a good cleaning so that all our options are open on the shoot day. It is also easier to feel more comfortable and relaxed when everything in your home is in it’s place.

Simple is Better
After you pick out your rooms, removing clutter and wall hangings to keep the backdrop simple will work best for our shoot. As we work, we can add props and decorations back in. Props can include blankets, flowers, coffee mugs, pillows, house plants, whatever you desire!

Get everybody in their favorite PJ’sPJ’s, and let’s have a cozy day in! Getting the family together in their most comfy clothes is a great way to let natural moments unfold in front of the camera.
